Safe Site Check

Hey friends! 👋 Have you ever clicked on a website and suddenly thought, "Wait… is this even safe?" 😬 Yeah, same here. Whether we're shopping online, reading news, or downloading something cool, knowing how to spot a sketchy site is so important.
Today I'm sharing 5 quick tricks I personally use to check if a website is safe. Let's stay smart (and safe) together! 🛡️✨
1. Check for HTTPS 🔒
This one's super basic but really important. If a website starts with https:// instead of just http://, it means your connection is encrypted — like a secure tunnel between you and the site. You'll also see a little lock icon next to the address. If there's no lock, that's already a red flag 🚩.
2. Look at the URL 👀
Scam websites love to fake popular names. If a URL looks off or has too many dashes or extra letters, trust your gut and don't click further.
3. Spot typos and bad design ✏️
If the site is full of spelling mistakes, weird grammar, or just looks like it was thrown together in 5 minutes... that's a warning sign. Real brands usually have polished websites. So if everything looks messy or outdated, better close that tab.
4. Avoid sketchy pop-ups 😵💫
You know those sites that suddenly show pop-ups like "You've won an Phone!" or "Click now to clean your phone!" — please don't click. Legit websites rarely spam you like that. Too many pop-ups = trouble.
5. Search for reviews 💬
If you're unsure about a new site — especially a shopping one — search its name with words like "review" or "scam." I always do a quick check on Reddit or Trustpilot. It only takes a minute and can save you from losing money or data.
So, next time you stumble across a new website, run it through these 5 checks first. Better safe than sorry, right? 💻🚫
